Apple Tart Recipe

This apple tart recipe is a great variation on making a pie. You don't need to put a crust on the top and the baking apples will draw everyone to the kitchen in anticipation of the first bite.

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 egg
1/4 cup finely ground almonds
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

6 - 8 medium apples, peeled, and sliced fairly thin
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Roll out chilled dough and line a large tart pan cutting off excess dough (if you have dough left over you can make mini tarts with it).

Filling

Beat together cream cheese, sugar, and eggs until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and mix in. Pour into prepared tart pan.

In a separate bowl combine together apples, cinnamon, and sugar, until apples have a nice coating. Arrange apples on top of filling.

Bake for 45 - 50 minutes, or until crust and apples have a nice golden colour
