Bacon Cheeseburger Recipe

This bacon cheeseburger recipe gives instructions for both a chicken or a beef burger, that you cook in a skillet on the stove top. Of course burgers can also be made on the grill for the barbecue enthusiast.

Ingredients

4 slices cooked bacon
12-16 ounces ground beef (or chicken)
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 Tablespoons seasoned bread crumbs
1 Tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
2 Tablespoons butter
4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
4 lettuce leaves
4 -8 tomatoes, slices
mayonnaise
ketchup
mustard
Kaiser Buns for 4 burgers

Directions

The Burgers

In a skillet, cut the bacon strips in halves and cook until nice and crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan and put onto a plate lined with paper towels to drain.

Set aside until needed.

Combine beef (or chicken), eggs, onion, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, salt, baking soda, pepper and oregano in large bowl; mix well. Shape into 4 patties.

Heat butter a skillet until butter melts; add patties.

Cook until patties are no longer pink in center, 4 to 5 minutes on each side.

Place 1 slice cheese on top of each patty.

Cook until it melts a little.

Put bun halves on the skillet for a few seconds, just to slightly warm them.

Assembly

Spread each bun with mayonnaise on one half, and mustard on another; arrange 1 lettuce leaf on bottom half of each bun.

Top with a meat or chicken patty, bacon slice, tomato slices, a dollop of ketchup and top half of bun.

*Note-You can also cook the meat on the barbecue.

We have given this recipe for 'in a skillet' so these tasty burgers can be made anytime by anyone.

Serve hot.
