Baked Tuna Casserole Recipe

A baked tuna casserole recipe with pasta and heavenly melted cheese.

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon olive oil, plus more for greasing
1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
6 ounces pasta
2 Tablespoons butter
1/4 cup flour
2 1/2 cups milk, divided
1 1/2 cups parmesan cheese, grated
2 (7 ounce) cans tuna, drained
1 cup cheddar cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with olive oil. set aside.

Bring a large saucepan of water to boil over high heat.

Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon olive oil.

Once boiling, add pasta and cook according to package directions.

When pasta is done, drain and return to the saucepan.

In a separate large saucepan, melt butter.

Stirring constantly, add the flour and stir until a thick paste forms.

Pour in the milk, in a steady stream, while continuing to stir constantly.

Cook until the sauce has thickened.

Remove from heat and add the parmesan cheese. Stir until melted and smooth.

Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary.

Pour the sauce over the pasta in the saucepan and mix until well combined.

Add the tuna and gently toss until combined.

Pour pasta into the prepared baking dish

Top with the cheddar cheese.

Transfer pasta to the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes, until pasta is heated through and top is lightly browned.

Allow tuna bake to sit for 5 minutes before serving.
