This best chili recipe is so easy to make and it a perfect choice for a crowd or to take to a pot luck.
Make the chili in a large pot on the stove top.
Melt the butter over medium heat, add the onions and cook until tender and translucent.
Add the ground meat and cook until no pink is showing.
Use a wooden spoon to break it into a crumbly texture as it cooks. Drain off any fat.
Add all the remaining ingredients and seasonings.
Bring to a boil, then turn down to simmer.
Cover with a lid.
Simmer over very low heat for 2 hours, do a taste and adjust seasonings to taste.
