Butterscotch Slice Cookies With Smarties Recipe

Delicious, basic easy to make refrigerator cookie makes 6 dozen. Great for a cookie swap.Use smarties or M&M's to create these colorful cookies that kids will really love.

Ingredients

3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
2 cups lightly packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggsB
1/2 cup broken M&M or Smartie pieces
Makes 6 dozen cookies
Smarties or M&M's for each cookie top (72 candies for 6 dozen cookies)

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F - When the cooled cookie dough is ready for baking.

Lightly grase a baking sheet.

Sift together dry ingredients; flour baking soda and salt.

Cream together butter, brown sugar and vanilla.

Beat in the eggs and beat until light and fluffy.

Stir in dry ingredients as well as the broken candy pieces.

Shape the dough into a log roll 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in wax paper and chill for 4 hours.

Cut the chilled cookie dough into 1/4 inch thick slices.

Bake on the greased baking sheet for 5 to 7 minutes or until golden brown.

*Note: Refrigerator dough is shaped into rolls by rolling back and forth with the hands, wrapped in wax paper and chilled until firmed before cutting with a sharp knife to bake.
