Chocolate Oat Nut Cake Recipe

A very yummy recipe for chocolate oat nut cake. This is a great afternoon snack to enjoy with a hot tea.
1/2 cup milk
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups chocolate chunks
1 cup walnuts, chopped
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 cake pan.
Whisk the egg, milk, oil, applesauce, and vanilla until blended.
Add the vanilla, cocoa powder, cinnamon, salt, and sugar and whisk well.
Put 3/4 cup of oatmeal into a food processor and process until finely ground .
Add the ground oats, remaining whole oats, and baking powder to the mixture and stir until evenly mixed. Fold in 1/2 cup chocolate chunks.
Spread the mixture into the pan and sprinkle with walnuts. bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with chocolate chunks.
Allow to cool to room temperature.
