Makes 48-60 cookies

5 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups butter, at room temperature
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract


Sift together flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.

In a separate large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

Stir the flour mixture into the wet mixture and mix until smooth.

Wrap dough with plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

On a floured surface, Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes using a cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 8 minutes or until slightly golden. remove and let cool 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Repeat with remaining dough until all the cookies are baked.
