This easy brownie recipe is perfect for an afternoon snack and has a nice dollop of jam on each piece.
Brownies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a 9x13 inch pan with butter.
In a mixing, stir together the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt.
In a saucepan melt the butter. Add the water.
Whisk in the cocoa so that it is dissolved in the water.
Bring to a boil.
Pour the liquid into the bowl with the flour mixture and mix together.
Use an electric mixer to beat in the buttermilk.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time.
Beat in the vanilla extract.
Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Remove the pan to a cooling rack.
Let cool completely before cutting and serving with a dollop of jam spread on each piece.
