This fancy chocolate cake recipe is a rich and decadent chocolate cake frosting with a delicious white icing and garnished to create a beautiful piece for your next party.
Cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease and flour 3 - 9 inch round with butter.
In a double boiler, or a pot filled with water and a bowl melt chocolate and water on low heat. Let cool.
Whisk together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks one a time beating after each addition.
Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Mix in chocolate and vanilla until incorporated. Mix in flour and buttermilk and mix till it's incorporated. Set aside.
Whip egg whites until they form stiff peaks. Fold into cake batter until it's just incorporated.
Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25 - 30 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Set to cool, once cool enough to touch turn cakes out of pans and let cool completely on a wire rack.
White Chocolate Frosting
Beat together cream cheese and butter. Mix in melted chocolate, vanilla and sugar, then beat for 5 minutes.
Chocolate Fudge Frosting
In a small pot melt together butter and chocolate, stirring until smooth.
Beat together melted chocolate, sugar, vanilla and milk for about 5 minutes.
Assembly
Frost in between the layers of cake with chocolate fudge frosting. Frost on top and on sides of cake with white chocolate frosting. Press white chocolate curls on sides. Pipe designs with chocolate fudge icing on top of cake and sprinkle with white chocolate curls. Serve.
