Fresh Apple Cake Recipe

This fresh apple cake recipe has shredded apples in it and sliced apples on the top. It uses simple ingredients and is easy to make, smells wonderful when baking and is very yummy warm from the oven.

Ingredients

1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 apple, peeled, and shredded

2 apples,washed,cored and cut into very thin slices for the top of the cake

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease and flour a 9-inch round cakepan.

Prepare the apple for the inside of the cake first by peeling, and grate the apple.

Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, stir together the sugar, egg, melted butter and vanilla.

In another bowl, stir together the flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt.

Blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring it in with a wooden spoon, then add the grated apples and pour into the prepared pan.

Wash the 2 apples for the top, you can leave the skin on or peel it off if desired. Cut the apples into quarters and remove the cores, then make thin slized and arrange the slices onto the top of the cake batter.
