Fresh Garlic Bread Recipe

This recipe for fresh garlic bread will have your house smelling of delicious roasted garlic. The heads are first baked whole to soften and squeezed into a bowl of butter and herbs before toasting on fresh french bread.

Ingredients

1 loaf French bread, cut into 1/2 inch slices
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 -5 heads garlic (this is the whole garlic, not just the small cloves)
1 cup fresh oregano, chopped
salt
olive oil

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Slice the tops off each head of garlic and drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper.

Wrap each head into foil and bake on tray for 30-45 minutes.

When time is up the cloves should be tender.

Let cool and squeeze the garlic out of cloves and into a small bowl along with softened butter, oregano and salt and pepper to taste.

Mix well.

Spread a thin layer of the garlic mixture over each piece of bread.

Place the bread slices single layered on a baking sheet.

Turn oven to 500 degrees F.

Broil in the oven for about 1-2 minutes or until toasted.

Be careful not to burn.

Serve hot!
