Gummy Worms Recipe

This gummy worms recipe is made with natural ingredients and is a favorite with children.

Ingredients

1/2 cup corn starch (amount approximate and used just to dust the worm mold)
8 Tablespoons agar agar powder
1 pinch of salt
4 Tablespoons cane sugar (or granulated sugar)
4 cups of a natural clear juice
Some ideas that work well are: white grape juice, purple grape juice, apple juice
*Optional, food colorings

TOOLS: Gummy worm mold

Directions

Begin by completely dusting the worm mold with cornstarch. Make sure it has a good dusting. Place the mold into the freezer.

In a saucepan stir together the agar agar powder, and sugar. Stir in the juice. Let sit for 5 minutes.

Turn on the heat to medium and bring to a boil.

Boil until the mixture becomes thick, stirring occasionally with a spatula.

Remove from heat.

Remove the worm mold from freezer and place onto the counter.

Spoon the mixture into the worm molds. Don't overfill.

Place a piece of parchment paper or wax paper on top of the filled worm mold tray.

You need to press down on the paper so the worms are forced into the molds and fill up the worm space.

Place into the freezer for 30 minutes.

Remove from the freezer and release the worms from the mold.

TIP * If you want more than one color in your worms, you would have to cut your recipe in half and make two batches at the same time so they are both ready when you spoon the cooked mixture into the worm molds.
