Healthy Turkey Burgers Recipe
The healthy turkey burgers recipe uses a little applesauce and some other tasty ingredients in the meat mixture. Served with fresh sprouts, a nutrious food choice!
1 lb ground chicken or 1 lb ground turkey
1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
1/4 cup applesauce
1/4 cup yellow onion, minced
1/4 cup parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon lemon juice
salt and pepper
1 cup sprouts
8 ounces iceberg lettuce
4 slices of tomato
4 of your favorite sandwich buns, ciabatta tastes great
Combine the meat, breadcrumbs, applesauce, onion, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and salt and pepper in a medium sized mixing bowl.
Mix well using your hands and then form into patties.
Grill, broil or saute the patties for about 5 minutes on each side.
For each sandwich, layer a portion of lettuce, a slice of tomato, a patty and a generous helping of sprouts onto the bun. For extra crunch, toast the buns for a minute in a skillet.
