A healthy alternative to the canned kind.
Slice your apples and put into a large soup pot.
Add the spices, brown sugar, corn starch or arrowroot, and 1/2 cup water.
Turn on heat, and let your mixture simmer, adding more water as it evaporates.
Simmer and stir for 20 minutes until apples are soft.
Fill canning jars (leaving about 1/2 an inch at the top)
Put lids on the jars and put them in a hot water bath for about 20 minutes.
Remove carefully with a jar lifter and set aside to cool.
You can freeze these jars for months.
