Millionaire Shortbread Bars Recipe

These rich little layered bars are easy to make and will satisfy your sweet craving.

Ingredients

2/3 cup butter, at room temp
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
2 Tablespoons light corn syrup
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 1/4 cups milk chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat oven to 350F.

Grease a 9inch square cake pan with a small amount of butter.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the butter, sugar and flour using a wooden spoon and your fingertips. When it is a crumbly texture, press it into the prepared pan.

Place into the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes.

While the bottom is baking, in a saucepan, combine the 1/2 cup butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk. Bring to a boil and let the mixture boil for a full 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and beat vigorously with a wooden spoon for about 3 minutes. Pour over baked crust (warm or cool). Cool until it begins to firm.

Place the chocolate chips into the top of a double boiler or melt with your favorite method and over low heat, melt the chocolate chips. Stir and when it is creamy and smooth,

pour the chocolate over the caramel layer and spread evenly to cover completely. Chill.

Cut into 1 inch squares. These need to be small because they are so rich.
