Orange Honey Cookies are great for lunches, parties and cookie swaps
Orange Honey Cookies
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
Lightly grease a baking sheet.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
In a medium sized mixing bowl cream together the butter, sugar and honey.
Blend in the egg and the grated orange rind.
Stir the dry ingredients into the creamy mixture, cover and chill for 1 1/2 hours.
Once cooled, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll to 1/4 inch thick.
Cut into desired shapes with floured cookie cutters.
Bake on the greased baking sheet in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
Remove the cookies onto cooling racks and once cool you can frost with the Orange Butter Cream.
Makes 3 dozen single cookies.
Orange Butter Cream
In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and gradually blend in the icing sugar alternately with the orange juice and grated orange rind. Add food coloring to desired color if using.
Spread butter cream on cooled cookies and put sprinkles onto the cookies as you do eac one.
