Cut the short ribs into serving sized pieces.
In a large pot, cover the ribs with water and simmer for about an hour on the stove.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large sauce pan, melt the butter and add the crushed garlic. Cook for a few minutes.
Add the rest of the ingredients and then bring to a boil.
Drain the water from the ribs and place them in a shallow baking pan.
While the sauce is still boiling, carefully pour it over the ribs.
Bake for 30 minutes. Baste the ribs about every 10 minutes or so. Serve hot.
