Oven Baked Turkey Meatballs Recipe

These oven baked turkey meatballs have a nice combination of ingredients to provide an great flavor to the meat. They are baked in the oven. The sauce is made on the stovetop and the baked meatballs are added to the sauce and coated with the glaze.

Ingredients

Turkey meatballs
1 lb. ground turkey
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 Tablespoon applesauce
1 shallot,minced
1/3 cup almond meal
1/3 cup apple, shredded
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
2 Tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Glaze
1 cup apple cider
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1 teaspoon applesauce
1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper


Directions

Turkey Balls

Preheat oven to 400ºF.

Cover a baking sheet with aluminium foil and place a cooling rack over top. Set aside.

In a large bowl, combine the turkey, garlic, applesauce, shallot, almond meal, apple, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper and parsley.

With clean hands, form the meat mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on the cooling rack over the tinfoil lined baking sheet.

Transfer meatballs to the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes or until cooked through.

Meanwhile, make the glaze.

Glaze

In a large skillet, combine all of the ingredients and whisk until well combined.

Put the skillet over medium heat and bring the glaze to a gentle boil.

Once boiling, lower the heat. Allow the glaze to simmer for 2 minutes, until it thickens.

Add the cooked meatballs to skillet and toss gently to coat in glaze.

Allow the meatballs to cook for one minute.

Transfer the meatballs to a serving dish and serve immediately.
