Smartie Chocolate Cake Recipe

Single layer smartie chocolate cake recipe has a creamy chocolate ganache.

Ingredients

Cake
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Ganache
1/4 cup coconut milk
2 1/2 ounces dark chocolate

Topping
1/2 cup smarties

Directions

Cake

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 8 inch round baking pan.

Whisk flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa together into a mixing bowl.

Using an electric mixer, combine the oil, water, vanilla and vinegar, and

On low speed, add in sugar.

Slowly add in flour mixture mixing on low speed until just combined.

Scrap batter into prepared pan.

Bake 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow to cool in pan for 5 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool fully.

Ganache

In a small sauce pan on low, heat coconut milk to warm.

Add in chocolate and stir until melted.

Remove from heat, allow to cool slightly.

To Assemble

Place cake on a serving plate, Pour ganache evenly over cake.

Place smarties over top, chill until ready to serve.
