Sour Cream Apple Pie Recipe

A creamy delicious sour cream apple pie recipe, this yummy dessert is great enjoyed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Crust
1/2 cup cold butter, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3-4 Tablespoons ice cold water

Pie Filling
2 cups finely chopped apples
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 Tablespoons all purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup sour cream
1 egg, well beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

Crust

Combine flour, salt in a mixing bowl, cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Drizzle in 4 tablespoons of ice water and mix just until the dough comes together.

Add the last Tablespoon of ice water if necessary, but don’t overwork the dough the dough.

Shape the dough into a flat disk, cover it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface, into a 12” round.

Fit pastry into a 8 inch spring form pan.

Pie filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour and cinnamon.

Add in the sour cream, egg, vanilla and salt, beat until smooth.

Fold in the chopped apples; mix thoroughly.

Pour into pie crust.

Bake for 45-50 minutes, until set.

Allow to cool before serving.
