Apple Cinnamon Donut Recipe

A Very Delicious recipe for apple cinnamon donuts.


4 1/2- 4 3/4 cup flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. granulated sugar
3 Tbsp butter, melted
1 cup soy milk
Vegetable oil for frying
For Coating
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon


In a large heavy pot heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil until thermometer reaches 375 degrees.

In the bowl of a mixer fitted combine applesauce, vanilla and sugar. Add butter and mix well. In a separate medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Add flour mixture and soy milk alternatively with butter mixture. Add more flour if needed to make a smooth and not too sticky dough.

Transfer dough to a lightly floured board. Knead for about a minute and roll out to a inch thick circle. Cut with donut cutter or a circular glass and use your thumb to poke through making the center hole.

Using metal tongsdrop 2-4 donuts at a time,dont over crowd the pan. Fry for about 2 minutes until they rise to the surface, and flip over with tongs and fry for another two minutes until golden and cooked through. remove and drain excess grease on paper towels or a brown bag.

In a small bowl mix 1/2 cup of sugar with 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. While your donuts are still warm place in the sugar mixture, mix around and flip over to fully coat with the mixture.

Serve warm or cooled.
