Cherry Cobbler Recipe

This cherry cobbler recipe is a delicious treat when cherries are in season.


4 cups fresh cherries, pitted and halved
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 Tablespoon quick-cooking tapioca
1/4 cup water
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
2 Tablespoons butter

Cobbler Topping
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 1/2 cups flour
2 Tablespoons baking powder
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla


Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large saucepan, bring water to a boil and add cherries, brown sugar, tapioca, and lemon juice.

Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 15 minutes.

Add 2 Tablespoons of butter and stir well, then set aside.

In large bowl, combine melted butter, flour, sugar, baking powder, milk and vanilla.

Pour batter mixture into deep-sided baking dish and cover, evenly with cherry mixture.

Bake in pre-heated oven for 20-25 minutes.

Serve warm.
