Chocolate Fudge Cake With Cherry Glazed Recipe

Chocolate Fudge Cake
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 sticks butter
1 cup water
5 Tablespoons cocoa powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
Fudge Icing
1 stick butter
4 Tablespoons milk
4 Tablespoons cocoa powder
16 ounces powdered sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract vanilla extract
Cherry Glaze Topping
1 can cherry pie filling


Chocolate Fudge Cake

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease a 9x13 inch pan.

Mix flour and sugar in a large bowl.

In a medium saucepan, combine butter, water, and cocoa over medium heat. Bring mixture to a boil and pour over the flour and sugar mixture. Mix well.

Beat in the eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla.

Pour greased pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

Do the toothpick test in the center of the cake, if it comes out clean the cake is ready.

Fudge Icing

In a medium saucepan, combine butter, milk, and cocoa and use a whisk to combine while you are bringing the mixture to a boil. Watch carefully so you do not burn.

Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, stirring well with a whisk or wooden spoon until the sugar melts and the mixture is smooth. Stir in vanilla, then pour over hot cake. Let the cake cool then spread the cherry pie filling on top.
