This deep fried bananas recipe is sort of like an apple fritter, except the bananas are inside the batter. It is a very delicious treat.
To make the batter, stir the flour, sugar salt and nutmeg together in a small bowl.
In a larger mixing bowl, stir the egg, oil milk and vanilla together.
Use an electric mixter to beat the flour mixture into the wet mixture. Beat until well combined and no lumps.
Using a dutch oven or heavy bottom deep side pan, pour in 2 inches of oil and heat the oil to 375 degrees. Do not go any hotter as the oil will start to smoke and burn.
Peel the bananas and cut into halves.
Dip the bananas into the batter and then transfer them, using tongs into the hot oil.
Fry for 3-4 minutes, turning or until the batter is crispy and gold brown.
Do in batches of 4 so you can turn them over and keep them from burning.
Use the tongs to transfer the cooked fried bananas onto a plate lined with paper towels.
