Deep Fried Potato Balls Recipe

This deep fried potato balls recipe may not be the absolute healthies way to cook potatoes, but they are great to make for a fun occasion.


2 eggs
1 cup mashed potatoes
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Oil for deep-fat frying

(Serves 4-6)


In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and then add in the mashed potatoes.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt and baking powder until blended. Stir the flour mixture into the potato mixture.

In a large saucepan, heat about 1 inch of oil to 375 degrees F. Use a melon scoop to form balls of the potato batter and then drop into the hot oil.

Fry the potato balls for a minute or so on each side. Drain on paper towels or brown paper and serve immediately.
