A great recipe for delicious Hawaiian donuts. Enjoy with a glass of milk or hot coffee.
In a large bowl combine the yeast with the melted butter, evaporated milk, water , 3 beaten eggs, nutmeg, 1/4 C sugar, and half the flour. Mix it well. And let it sit for 10 minutes.
Add the rest of the flour and cocoa and mix well. Then let it rise in a warm area for about an hour. Or until it doubles in size.
In a medium pot heat your vegetable oil to 375 degrees.
Make 2 inch balls with your dough. And cook for about 6 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. the dough balls may float to the surface, if so turn them to make sure they get cooked on both sides.
Remove donuts from oil and set them on a paper towel to cool a little bit.
Then either roll the donuts in 1/2 C sugar or put in a bag with sugar and shake.
