This tiramisu layer cake recipe is a special treat for any occasion.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F . Grease and flour two 9 inch round pans
In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth.
Pour batter into the prepared pans.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven.
Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
In a small bowl, using an electric mixer set on low speed, combine marscarpone, 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons Kahlua; beat just until smooth.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
To make the frosting: In a medium bowl, using an electric mixer set on medium-high speed, beat the cream, 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons Kahlua until stiff.
Fold 1/2 cup of cream mixture into filling mixture.
Place one plain cake layer on a serving plate.
Spoon the filling on top.
Top with remaining cake layer.
Spread sides and top of cake with frosting.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving.
