Baked Chicken Drumsticks
Whats for dinner? These baked drumsticks require about 6 hours time in the marinade for full flavor, so plan a little ahead. This would go well with baked garlic butter potato rounds.

Ingredients
Marinade
- 6 cloves of garlic
- 1 large shallot
- 1 Tablespoons grated fresh ginger
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
- freshly ground black pepper
Chiken
- 12 chicken drumsticks
Directions
- For the best flavor, allow 6 hours of marinating time, or you can marinate the drumsticks overnight.
- Make the marinade by placing all the ingredients into the blender. Blend until smooth and combined.
- Rinse the drumstick and pat dry with paper towels.
- Put the marinade into a ziploc bag. Place the drumsticks in and toss to coat. Try to cover evenly and place into the refrigerator for 6 hours or overnight.
- When you are ready to bake, preheat the oven to 400F.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a cooking rack onto the foil.
- Place the marinated drumsticks onto the baking rack and leave a little space between them. Baste the pieces with the marinade.
- Make a tent with aluminum foil to loosely cover the chicken.
- Save the remaining marinade for more basting.
- Place into the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil, baste the drumstick with the marinade and cook another 10-15 minutes longer, basting occasionally as the drumsticks cook.
- Cook until the internal temperature is 165F-170F. Test by inserting the thermometer in the thickest part of the drumstick.
